Questions

Straight answers about ownership, hosting, pricing and support.

What platform do you build on, and why?

WordPress, for every site we build. For online stores, we add WooCommerce, the store builder made for WordPress. You own the site outright, and because so many developers know WordPress, you are never tied to us. The same platform handles a simple five-page site and a full online store, so you can start small and add a store later without starting over.

Why not just use Shopify?

Shopify is easy to start, but you rent it. Plans run $29 to $399 a month for as long as your store is open. If you use a payment company other than Shopify’s, they add 0.6% to 2% to every sale. You can export your products and orders, but the design and setup stay behind, so leaving means rebuilding. With WordPress, you own the site, your data and the design, and there’s no platform fee on your sales. If an all-in-one store you manage yourself fits you better, we’ll tell you on the call.

Do I need an online store?

No. We build simple websites too, from 5 pages up to large sites. If you add an online store within 12 months, half of your website fee goes toward the store build.

Which payment companies and registers do you work with?

Stripe, PayPal and Square connect through their official WordPress plugins. Toast and other registers do not have a ready-made connection, so we link them as custom work and price it on the call.

Is WordPress always the right choice?

No. If a hosted platform like Shopify fits your business better, we will tell you on the call.

Do you write the content?

No. You supply your text, logos and images. We handle setup and layout.

Who owns the website?

You do. You own the site, domain, content and everything in it, and you hold the top-level login. We work as an administrator on your account.

Do you host my site?

No. You buy your own managed hosting account in your name, and we set up and maintain the site on it. That way you are never stuck with us. We only host by exception, at a premium.

What are you responsible for?

Keeping your site healthy and your connections working. Sales, traffic and growth are yours, unless you add the growth add-on.

Who pays for plugins and software?

You do, directly to those companies, and only if you want them. Every quote lists these bills so you see the full cost up front.

Do you design logos or brand graphics?

No. We do simple layout and theme work. You supply your logo and images, or bring a designer.

I already have a site. Can you move it?

We always build a new site, either styled like your old one or with a fresh look. We do not move the old site itself.

Who keeps my stock counts accurate?

Your team keeps stock counts accurate. We own the setup and the sync between your inventory software and your store.

Do you handle sales tax and shipping?

We set them up. Filing taxes and managing shipping day to day stay with you.

What training do I get?

One live walkthrough at launch. After that, more help runs through your support plan.

Why do you need a call before giving a final price?

We learn how your business runs before we quote, so the build fits. The quote tool gives you a range; the call sets the real number.

When can I reach you?

Support hours are 6 to 10pm Central Time. Response times are set in your contract.

Who owns my Amazon and eBay accounts?

You do. You own every seller account. We work inside them on your behalf.

What happens if I cancel?

We hand your logins back cleanly after a set notice period. Everything is already in your name, so nothing has to be moved.
